This radio drama is aimed at children aged 4 to 8 years. It draws the listener into a world where animals and inanimate objects all come to life. It promotes empathy with the ideas and feelings of others and mixes this with a good 'ole dollop of humour!
Join the Lonely Flower and all the creatures of the meadow, along with the Golden Sun, the Cheeky Wind (Breezy Bill) and the Old Oak tree. They all bring a little happiness to the flower, but will a surprise visitor to the meadow, be the one at last to make her dreams come true?
In this production, Ann has drawn on an experienced and talented director and cast to bring this imaginative world to life. Ann has worked on this and several other radio drama productions with the brilliant director, Judie Chalmers (The Adventures of the Stripy Pyjamas on RTE Jnr and an adaptation of The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, for Cork City Community Radio). The cast - a great bundle of talent - includes Alan Dalton, Judy Donovan, Antoinette Hilliard, Darragh Keating, Éadaoin Looney, Kieran O'Leary and Rosie O'Regan.
Ann has developed and delivered audio drama workshops for primary school children at festivals, schools and libraries. Most recently, Ann delivered a project based on The Lonely Flower as part of the 'Artist in School' scheme funded by Cork County libraries.
By introducing children to the world of audio books and audio drama, they are given an opportunity to improve their listening skills, and to enhance the development of their imagination, without the constant reliance on visual stimulation. The workshops have been greeted with great enthusiasm by both children and teachers.
The workshops are designed to fit in with the existing primary school curriculum and with the existing methodologies, while at the same time engaging the children in a fun and interactive way.
